Fighting for Small Business

For 44 years, I have lived the grit and grind of small business. I know firsthand the challenges entrepreneurs face-and I will never stand by while government overreach threatens free enterprise. I have testified to City Council, Board of County Commissioners, Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission, Wildfire Resiliency Board, and the State Legislature to stop burdensome regulations that strangle small businesses, kill local jobs, and increase the cost of living.

In addition to my board roles, I have worked through committees and town halls to understand community needs and help shape solutions. Examples include: WPSD Task Force, City of Woodland Park Charter Review Committee, City of Woodland Park Deer Management Task Force, Braver Angels, Teller County Short Term Rental Town Halls.

Fiscal Responsibility

I am committed to protecting tax payer dollars by maintaining a fiscally conservative approach to county spending. Teller County is Debt Free, and I will work hard to keep it that way while ensuring essential services are delivered efficiently.

As the owner of a residential and commercial construction business, I successfully navigated the challenges of the 2007-2010 mortgage and banking crisis and Covid-19-a time when many did not. That experience proved that sound financial discipline and responsible decision-making are the keys to long-term stability.

Veteran Services

Our Veterans fought to protect our freedoms—it’s our duty to fight for the services and care they’ve earned. Veterans deserve the highest level of respect and support. As the father of a Marine combat veteran from the Afghanistan war, I know firsthand the challenges many face when they return home. My wife Shannon’s grandfather, a World War II Navy fighter pilot, didn’t receive his benefits until he was 99 years old—and I personally spent countless hours fighting to make sure he finally did.

Public Lands

With 56% of Teller County made up of public lands, their care and management are critical to our community. Today, these lands face serious challenges and forest health must be addressed. As an avid outdoorsman, I am committed to working closely with the U.S. Forest Service, the BLM, and other partners to ensure our public lands are protected, healthy, and accessible for future generations.

From Main Street to the Mountain Top-

Carl stands for the Constitution

Seeing how many Americans lacked a clear understanding of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, I took action. I personally purchased thousands of U.S. Constitution pocket books and distributes them to citizens, businesses, and schools. On July 4, 2021 I lead a team of patriots to the top of Pikes Peak where myself and others proudly read the U.S. Constitution to a crowd of visitors, celebrating freedom, on America’s Mountain at 14,115 feet.

As your Teller County Commissioner, I will fight to preserve the State of Colorado and the U.S. Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Our Constitution has been weakened in far too many instances. Unfortunately, our greatest threat to our freedom is not just from abroad, but within our own borders.

I share the belief of our Founding Fathers in limited government. As a small business owner for over 45 years, I’ve seen firsthand how excessive regulations drive up the cost of living and burden hardworking families. I have testified hundreds of times against these overreaches and will continue to fight for limited government that works for the people—not against them.
